The new Q5 has been redesigned from the ground up. Roadshow contributing writer Jon Wong had the opportunity to test the Q5 is desert around beachside Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, and found the new Q5 to have a smooth ride, terrific high-speed stability and an exceptionally quiet cabin, regardless of the road (or non-road) conditions.
From the outside, the new Q5 looks trimmer, and indeed has shed some weight for the new model year. It also features a distinctive, wider Singleframe grille and 3D LED headlights. The Q5 also features a newly-redesigned Quattro all-wheel drive system, which decouples the rear axle when not needed for improved fuel efficiency. This compact luxury SUV is nicely powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque and takes the Q5 from 0-60 mph in just 5.9 seconds.
